Lake Mungo is an ancient dry lake, part of the Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area. The home of Mungo Man and Mungo Woman, evidence of ancient Aboriginal Culture dating back over 50,000 years has been revealed at this archaeological significant site.

Natural erosion of sand and clay over millennia have revealed the secrets of this landscape and created the famously spectacular pastel hued dune fields and lunettes, stunning when viewed from the air. Three traditional owner groups care for country at Mungo, the Paakanti, Ngyiampaa and Mutthi Mutthi people.
